2025 U.S.A. DANGEROUS DOG ATTACK RELATED FATALITIES

Pit bulls lead the count…

This list is subject to change as new information becomes available. The victims listed here are those reported in the news media. Many dog attack fatalities are not reported in the news. According to data from Dogsbite.org the media has only captured approximately 50% of mauling deaths in the last few years likely due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

1. January 10, 2025- Robert W. Echols, 53, Alton, Illinois, mauled to death by his own pet pit bull inside his home.

2. January 10, 2025- Oakley Letto Johnson, 34 day old infant boy, Jacksonville, North Carolina, killed by the family pit bull. Mother charged criminally.

3. January 13, 2025- Michael Millet, 8, Deland, Florida, mauled to death by a neighbor’s loose pit bull and a mixed breed while riding his bike in his subdivision. Originally only charged with a second degree misdemeanor, owners of killer dogs charged with felony tampering with evidence after discovering deleted messages on social media acknowledging the dogs were dangerous.

4. January 15, 2025- Gladys Anthony, 62, St. Louis, Missouri, mauled to death in her yard while trying to protect her dog from the neighbor’s 3 pit bulls that broke through her fence. Her husband, age 73, was also injured in the attack. Anthony’s neighbor, 54, was arrested for involuntary manslaughter, but prosecutors declined charges due to “lack of evidence”. The 3 killer dogs were euthanized.

5. January 16, 2025- Darnelle A. Greeno, 52, Apalachin, New York, mauled to death at her home by her own pet 6 year old American Bulldog/Pit bull that she had since it was a puppy.

6. January 19, 2025- Tina Weger, 61, Tuscon, AZ, mauled to death at her home by her own rescued pit bull that she had fostered for over a year as a volunteer for a rescue and Pima County Animal Shelter.

7. January 23, 2025- Cindy Denholm, 68, Sangre de Cristo Ranches, Costilla County, Colorado, found dead in park with severe injuries from a domestic canine attack.

8. February 3, 2025- Unidentified Boy, 8, Wahiawa, Hawaii, mauled to death in neighbor’s yard by the neighbor’s chained pit bull.

9. February 3, 2025- LaVonne Hoff, 76, Colorado City, Colorado, mauled by daughter’s pit bulls and mixed breed dogs at her home. Daughter charged criminally.

10. February 6, 2025- Amanda Hutchens, 46, Echola, Alabama, mauled to death by a pack of dogs- pit bulls, pit bull mixes and other mixed breeds, she was feeding at their owner’s property while their owner was in the hospital.

11. February 9, 2025- Michael Arthur Fabjon Jr., 49, Panama City, Florida, mauled by neighbor’s pit bull “Gunner”. The pit bull owner barricaded himself in his front door when Animal Control tried to confiscate the dog. Gunner’s owner was then arrested for resisting without violence and obstruction.

12. February 19, 2025- Franklin Baca, 57, Antonio Colorado, found dead in a with injuries consistent from a dog attack. Authorities suspect neighbor’s pit bull.

13. February 23, 2025- Moeshae Thomas, 40, Wichita, Kansas, mauled to death by her own two pet pit bulls while trying to stop them from fighting.

14. February 24, 2025- Patricia Burt, 78, Beulah, Alabama, mauled to death by two Cane Corsos that her neighbors were watching for their son. Burt’s husband shot and killed both dogs at the scene.

15. February 26, 2025- Charles Chance, 59, Gallatin, Tennessee, while attempting to break up a dogfight between 11 of his pit bulls/mixes, they turned on him and he went into cardiac arrest during the dog attack. (proximate cause death)

16. February 27, 2025- Cheri “Kat” Taylor, 44, Tuskahoma, Oklahoma, neighbor’s vicious dogs. No breeds identified.

17. March 12, 2025- Larry Jay Owens, age 49, Winchester, Tennessee, mauled to death by his pit bull. There were no available police reports or news media on the death, only a post on the Mohoning County Ohio Dog Warden’s page on May 12, 2025 stating that he had been mauled to death by his own pit bull and a copy of Owens autopsy report showing severe predation to his body.

18. March 14, 2025- Ember Southard, 6-month-old girl, Alabaster, Alabama, mauled by grandmother’s pit bull while grandmother was babysitting.

19. March 20, 2025- Barbara Stewart, 81, New Orleans, Louisianna, killed by neighbor’s 3 pit bulls that broke through their fence as she took out her trash. Pit bull owner criminally charged with negligent homicide.

20. March 23, 2025- Harriet Phillips, 65, Houston, Texas, mauled to death by neighbors 3 pit bulls that broke through the shared fence.

21. April 1, 2025- Kyomi Temple, 6 months, Baytown Texas, killed by family pit bull.

22. April 2, 2025- Kevin Renguul, 43, Tucson, Arizona, mauled to death by neighbor’s 5 aggressive mixed breed dogs, including a Cane Corso mix, German Shepherd mix and 2 pit bulls which had previously attacked other people and killed pets. Neighbor charged.

23. April 3, 2025- Zaelynn Grove, age 2 months, Brownstown, Indiana, killed by family member’s pet pit bull.

24. April 9, 2025- Elizah Turner, age 7 months, Columbus, Ohio, one of 3 family pit bulls. No arrests were made.

25. April 14, 2025- Evelynn Lopez, age 4, Huntingburg, Indiana, killed by up to 6 pit bulls at the home after grandmother died from medical emergency.

26. April 25, 2025- Keith Huckvale, age 65, Oroville, Washington, when attempting to stop a pit bull from attacking his dog on his property, Huckvale sustained lacerations from the mauling and suffered a heart attack or stroke during the attack and died. This is a proximate cause death. He had lost a finger to the same pit bull in an earlier attack.

27. May 6, 2025- James Peters, age 6, Lexington, Oklahoma, mauled to death by family’s dogs while he was in his yard. A Great Pyrenees, border collie mix, German Shepherd mix and lab mix were implicated and euthanized. The victim’s father operated a rescue transport business and was arrested on animal cruelty charges for the deaths of 4 dogs.

28. May 19, 2025- Richard Dambrowski, age 46, Riga, New York, mauled to death by his own pet pit bull.

29. May 20, 2025- Kent P. Recklein, age 67, Caseyville, Illinois, mauled to death by 3 pet pit bulls that belonged to his daughter that were familiar with the victim. No criminal charges were filed.

30. June 11, 2025- Makayla Fortner, age 15, Alexander, Arkansas, mauled to death by 14 pit bulls and pit bull mixes at a property that had 30 plus unsterilized dogs and puppies. The victim was helping to feed and care for the dogs in an effort to find them homes. Fourteen dogs were removed from the property and were euthanized. No charges have been filed.

31. June 16, 2025- Unidentified woman, 28, Redding, California, mauled to death by dogs on the property. The woman’s fiancé came home and found her deceased in the yard. Two dogs were confiscated by police, breed unknown. Ongoing investigation.

 32. June 19, 2025- Ronald Anderson, 82, Torrant County, Texas, the next-door neighbor’s dogs- a brown pit bull and two shepherd mixes broke through the privacy fence and attacked Anderson while he was doing yardwork. Anderson died at the scene. Dogs were taken by animal control. No arrests yet.

33. July 2, 2025- Blakely Blosser, 1year old, Dover Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Family pit bull, 8 years old grabbed Blakely by the neck and killed her. Her mother attempted to stop the attack unsuccessfully. Blakely died at the scene. The paents stated the dog had not shown any aggression toward people in the past, but it was aggressive with their other two dogs. Blakey’s father put the dog down himself. No charges will be filed.

34. July 11, 2025- Theresa Patterson, 60, LaGrange, Georgia, a pit bull and cane corso mauled her to death as she walked in her neighborhood. The police shot and killed the pit bull and confiscated the cane corso. No charges have been filed.

35. July 12, 2025- Ivan Robinson, 41, Lancaster, California- mauled to death by two pit bulls while in the backyard of a home. Police confiscated 4 pit bulls and a litter of pit bull puppies. Relatives stated he was at a friend’s home helping them fix a car and had interacted with the killer dogs earlier in the day without issue. No arrests have been made.

36. July 18, 2025- Clifford Phillips Jr., 57, Water Valley, Mississippi, mauled to death by two pit bulls he was caring for at Second Chance Animal Alliance as an animal shelter worker. Sheriff deputies shot and killed one dog at the scene and the other was euthanized the following day. Ongoing investigation. Second Chance Animal Alliance is partnered with Best Friends Animal Society and promote the adoption of dangerous breed dogs.

37. July 23, 2025- Noah Muniz, 7, Jemison, Chilton County, Alabama, mauled to death by multiple dogs including a Pit bull, Akita and Catahoula mixes while riding a 4-wheeler on his grandparents’ property. Noah’s grandmother was bitten as she tried to stop the attack. The dogs belonged to a family member staying on the property. Nine dogs were confiscated. Ongoing investigation.

38. July 24, 2025- Delores Mukerson Musgrove, 50, Bessemer, Alabama, found deceased in a vacant lot mauled by dogs. Multiple stray pit bulls were in the area according to reports. Ongoing investigation.

39. July 25, 2025- Dwight Richardson, 66, Arcadia, Louisianna, attacked by a pack of dogs. After being airlifted to LSU Shreveport, the victim underwent surgery to amputate his arm. Richardson died the following day. Ola Gipson was arrested on charges of Negligent Homicide for Richardson’s death. She was reported to have owned the multiple dogs that attacked Richardson.

40. July 27, 2025- Lindsay Stroup, 30, Denison, Texas, attacked by two pit bulls she was pet sitting on July 17, 2025. Her 6-year-old daughter witnessed the attack and called 911. Lindsay died 10 days later.

41. July 29, 2025- Simone Lyke, 32, San Antonio, Texas, mauled by her own pit bull on 7/21/25.

42. July 28, 2025- Robert Williams, Memphis, Tennessee, mauled to death in his own yard by two stray pit bulls while trying to save his wife from the attack. Police shot and killed both pit bulls at the scene. Ongoing investigation to find the owners of the pit bulls.

43. July 29, 2025- Mary Ann Orr, 67, Easley, South Carolina, mauled by her own dogs, a pit bull and a shepherd mix on July 21, 2025. Orr died a week later.

44. July 30, 2025- Carter, 5-month-old boy, Ormond Beach, Volusia County, Florida. The baby was in a bedroom when the great grandmother’s pet “Great Dane/ Husky mix“, pictured below, opened the bedroom door and mauled the infant to death. The dog will be quarantined for 10 days. Ongoing investigation.

45. July 30, 2025- Unidentified Infant, Fargo, North Dakota. The dog was owned by the victim’s family and was quarantined. Ongoing investigation.

46. July 31, 2025- Teodora Mendoza, 51, San Bernadino, California. Police responded to a pit bull attack in progress at a park. When officers arrived, they began rendering aid to one of the victims. The officer fired his weapon and killed one pit bull after both pit bulls charged at the officer and the victim. A woman with severe injuries, believed to be caused by the dog mauling, was discovered 30 yards away. Ms. Mendoza was transported to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The other victim was also hospitalized; her condition is unknown. Animal services subsequently removed multiple dogs from the area. Ongoing investigation.

47. August 11, 2025- Olivia Willette Hill, 3, Burlington, Colorado. A black German Shepherd, “Draco”, retired narcotics detection Police K-9, fatally mauled the Police Chief’s daughter in the back yard of their home. The dog was subsequently euthanized. No charges will be filed.

48. August 14, 2025- Donna Nguyen, 62, Union City, Georgia. Donna was attacked by a pack of five dogs appearing to be pit bulls/ pit mixes, while walking to a bank on August 1. She sustained life threatening injuries. She was hospitalized in intensive care where she remained unconscious and on a ventilator for two weeks before she died. Four of the dogs were confiscated from their owner and euthanized. The victim’s family is demanding accountability. Ongoing investigation.

49. August 16, 2025- Aleiah Raine Smith, 4, Cave Junction, Oregon. A Pit bull/Rottweiler/Cane Corso mix dog belonging to a neighbor mauled the little girl to death. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Her mother was badly injured by the dog when she tried to save her daughter. The dog is being quarantined. Ongoing investigation. A Go Fund Me was set up for the victim’s family.

50. August 26,2025- Cameron Reynolds, 8, Danville, VA. Mauled to death by family pit bull while at home. Family says dog had never shown aggression before. Ongoing investigation.

51. August 29,2025- Priscilla Jones, 44, Flat Lick, Kentucky. Mauled to death by pack of dogs while walking. Ongoing investigation.

52. September 1, 2025- Doreen Broadbelt, 71, Miami Gardens, Florida. Mauled to death by yet unidentified two dogs while walking to the nearby Walmart where she had worked for years. Doreen had complained of vicious dogs roaming the area and carried protection when she walked. She was a mother and grandmother. Ongoing investigation.

53. September 2, 2025- Allen Dale Hendrix, 80, Richmond, Missouri. The victim was attacked by a pit bull owned by a friend. The killer dog was a repeat offender and the owner is being charged with felony owning of a dog that bit another person resulting in death and misdemeanor abuse of elderly, disabled or vulnerable person.

54. September 4, 2025- Jason Weaver, 7 days old, Markle, Indiana. Mauled to death by family pit bull/husky mix that was 5 years old and had never shown signs of aggression in the past according to the family. Ongoing investigation.

55. September 8, 2025- Woon Lee, 86, Los Angeles County, California. Two Rottweilers mauled Mr. Lee to death while he was on an early morning walk. Investigators confirmed the dogs’ owner cooperated with deputies at the scene. The man said the dogs escaped, and he searched for them. Deputies allowed the owner to take the dogs home, though officials expect Animal Care and Control to quarantine them. Authorities stated the death investigation remains active, pending confirmation from the Medical Examiner.

56. September 26, 2025 – Sandra Wolfe Schaefer, 61, Oneonta, Alabama. A pit bull attacked its handler during a walk and Schaefer and her husband attempted to stop the attack. The pit bull attacked all three people who were subsequently hospitalized with serious injuries. Schaefer died three days after the initial attack.

57. October 4,2025- Kaimir Jones, 2, Valdosta, Georgia, was left unattended at his babysitter’s house while the sitter was asleep. He made his way to the back yard and opened the kennel door to two Rottweilers which fatally mauled him. The babysitter was charged with two felonies.

58. October 5, 2025- Michael Gedeus, 38, Miami, Florida. The man was attacked and fatally mauled by multiple pit bulls.

59. October 8, 2025- Maria D. Nunez, 86, Baxley, Georgia. Ms. Nunez was in her own yard when two pit bulls belonging to a neighbor mauled her to death. She died at the scene. The dogs were confiscated. The owner of the killer dogs, Misty Branch, 53, was arrested and charged with Reckless Conduct and Involuntary Manslaughter in connection with the mauling death of Maria Nunez.

60. October 10, 2025- Monica L. Emerson, 38, Daytona Beach, Florida. Monica was mauled by her own pit bulls inside her home. One large adult male pit bull and three offspring were confiscated and will be held at animal control for 10 days before being euthanized.

61. October 12, 2025- Tyler Richard Moen-Lisk, 37, Nashua, New Hampshire. Tyler had a seizure which triggered the family pit bull, Pretzel, to attack him. EMS worked on Tyler for over 20 minutes; he regained a pulse and was life flighted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His mother was quoted in the article, “Pretzel, the family dog that attacked, was a good family dog. Tyler’s seizures could be very violent, and Pretzel had never witnessed one before.” Nashua P.D. Sergeant John Cinelli stated, “We do not believe this was an unprovoked attack. The victim did not have defensive wounds,” Cinelli said. “The victim had a seizure and went unconscious and the dog attacked – we’re not yet sure if it was to help him or he was scared from what happened.”

62. October 12, 2025- Jose Padron Castillo, 45, Bacliff, Galveston County, Texas. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Department were called to the scene of a dog attack. Upon arrival the man was being actively attacked by his own two pit bulls. Deputies shot one of the dogs to stop the attack. The victim was was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. Both dogs were taken into custody by animal control.

63. October 14, 2025- Aryson Lee Page, 2, Dufur, Oregon. Aryson was mauled to death by a pit bull at a park in Dufur. The pit bull was put down according to a report in the Columbia Gorge News. Ongoing investigation.

64. November 3, 2025- Walter Anthony Sterno, 78, Townsend, McIntosh County, Georgia. Two pit bull mixes mauled Mr. Sterno and another adult female inside their home leaving Mr. Sterno dead at the scene and the other female victim hospitalized with serious injuries. Both dogs were confiscated and euthanized by animal control. Ongoing investigation.

65. November 18, 2025- Locklynn McGuire, 2, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. One of four family dogs, a black female pit bull mauled Locklynn to death. Her parents, Jordan McGuire and Darci Lambert, were both charged with 1st degree murder in her death. CPS had come to the home after Locklynn was attacked on November 6 by the same dog, which tore off part of her ear. CPS did not remove the victim from the home, nor did they notify the police or animal control. Locklynn’s parents locked her in a room with the pit bull because it was attacking their other three dogs. They continued to put the girl in the same room as the dog even after it had previously attacked her.

66. November 18, 2021- Michael Bodenheimer, 73, Thomasville, North Carolina, a longtime member of the Fair Grove Fire Department. The victim was found in the back yard of a home dead at the scene with injuries consistent from an attack by 17 pit bull mixed dogs. Some of the attacking dogs were confiscated by animal control. Sheriff Simmons confirms criminal charges are coming as the dogs were owned. Second degree murder charges and 17 counts of felony animal abuse have now been filed against Elaina Bryant,  56,  of Thomasville,  North Carolina.

All 17 pit bulls were euthanized.  Examinations reportedly confirmed that all 17 were involved in the attack on Bodenheimer.

67. November 21, 2025- Madison Hull, 23, Tyler, Texas. Mauled to death by 3 pit bulls that she was pet sitting while their owners were out of town. Police shot and killed one of the dogs. Animal control confiscated the other two. Ongoing investigation.

68. November 23, 2025- Barbara Hunter Brewington, 38, Clinton, North Carolina. Victim was found dead at her home. Evidence suggested that she was viciously attacked by a dog of unidentified breed she had been providing care to for several weeks. Her own pet small dog got out of the house and was attacked by the stray dog. Brewington attempted to save her dog and the stray dog turned on her and mauled her to death. Deputies shot and killed the dog and it will be tested for rabies.

69. & 70. December 3, 2025- Double Canine Homicide- James Alexander Smith, 50, Tullahoma, Tennessee. Smith was home alone with his 3 month old granddaughter, Khelani Taylor. A family pit bull, one of seven, mauled his grandchild and he was mauled to death by the dog while trying to save her. He was discovered deceased holding a baseball bat. Police shot and killed two pit bulls that were actively mauling the baby’s body. The remaining dogs were taken to animal control. Ongoing investigation.

71. December 6, 2025- Raphael Woolfork, 41, Ogelthorpe, Georgia. Victim was walking when fatally mauled by 3 loose pit bulls. He was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Two of the pit bulls have been found, while one remains on the loose. Ongoing investigation.

72. December 15, 2025- Chhay Leang, 62, Katy, Texas. The victim was walking in a neighborhood park when he was mauled to death by three dogs, two pit bulls and a Cane Corso. Another woman and her 3-year-old-child were attacked by the dogs soon after, in a nearby neighborhood, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The woman was bitten by a dog, and both were reportedly in stable condition after being taken to the hospital. The dogs were taken to animal control for quarantine. The owners could face up to 20 years in prison under Texas law. Ongoing investigation.

73. December 17, 2025- Trenton Wayne Souther, 12 day old infant, Treble County, Ohio. The family husky knocked over the baby’s bassinet and bit him causing his death.

74. December 21, 2025- Airen Andula, 13, Pleasonton, Kansas. Airen was riding his bike to his friend’s house and when he didn’t return he was reported missing by his parents and a police search began. Airen was attacked and mauled to death by 3-4 pit bulls belonging to Damon Leonard. Leonard took Airen’s body to a ravine across the state line into Missouri and covered his body with brush. He later admitted to police that he knew Airen was dead and where his body could be found. Leonard was charged with abandonment of a corpse. Ongoing investigation.

75. December 27, 2025- Angel Rawlings, 22, Bourbon, Missouri. Victim was found deceased in a home with injuries consistent with dog bite wounds. Two canines of unknown breed were found inside the home and were removed by animal control. Ongoing investigation.
