VICTIMS OF DANGEROUS DOGS UNITE at the MICHIGAN CAPITOL to PROTECT PUBLIC SAFETY

Victims of dangerous dog attacks and their families gathered at the Michigan Capitol on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, to raise awareness about the frequency and severity of dog attacks and to remember those lost to vicious dog maulings. Responsible Citizens for Public Safety and Justice for Pearl hosted the event.

Legislators were urged to take immediate action to protect the public by enacting the Michigan Truth in Pet Adoption Law, creating a searchable Dangerous Dog Database, and enforcing the Michigan Dangerous Animals Act.

State Representative Bob Bezotte of Livingston County was in attendance to show support for victims. Bezotte was the Livingston County Sheriff when two people were mauled to death by a pack of American Bulldogs, a large bully breed. He is in support of amending and enhancing Michigan’s Dangerous Dog Act so that it works to deliver justice for victims.

Multiple media outlets covered the event. Fox 47 had in depth coverage.

Speakers included: Leticia Spagnuolo of Justice for Pearl, Jill and Faith Demeniuk, Ellen Morgan of WHMI Radio, Elizabeth Dudley, R.N. and Ann Marie Rogers of Responsible Citizens for Public Safety.

The Responsible Citizens for Public Safety YouTube Channel will have the video of the event.

Safety advocates read the names of Michigan victims to honor those who lost their lives to dangerous dog maulings.
