Britain Will Ban American Bully XL (American Bulldog) By Year’s End.

The United States of America should take note of Britain’s Common Sense Action to Protect Public Safety.

Rishi Sunak, the British Prime Minister, says, ” the breed American XL Bully is a danger to our communities”. He has announced that the American XL bully will be banned in the UK by the end of the year after a spate of serious attacks, some fatal, in recent years. It will be the first breed to be added to the prohibited list under the Dangerous Dogs Act since the law was introduced in 1991.

Making the case for the ban after some animal charities opposed it, a legal expert, Dr Lawrence Newport, described the breed as “uniquely dangerous”.

“This dog breed is responsible for over 70% of all deaths to dogs since 2021; it’s responsible for nearly 50% of all attacks on both humans and other dogs. In one week in July this year, one dog a day was killed by an American bully,” he said.

While the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) and others have argued that adding the breed to the UK’s list of banned dogs will not stem the rise in attacks, Newport offered a comparison to attacks by pit bulls, which have been legislated against since the the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

“That ban has been very successful. And we know that because for example, in the UK, we have half the per capita deaths to dogs that the US does, and that difference is entirely explained by pit bulls.” He said, pit bulls were responsible for about 60% of deaths to dogs in the US.

The majority of Britons are in favor of the ban according to a recent poll.

Originating in the United States in the 1980s, the American XL Bully is a cross between the American Pit Bull Terrier (Pitbull) and the American Staffordshire Terrier. They have been described as being “friendly” pets by the American Kennel Club. Arriving in the U.K. around 2014, the breed is commonly known for its fighting ability.

The breed has different variations: pocket, standard, classic and XL.

According to Bully Watch UK, the scale of fatal attacks involving the breed is “growing.”

“The genetic makeup of these dogs is often unknown due to constant breeding, making their temperament unpredictable. Peer-reviewed medical studies from around the world clearly show that pit bull type dogs, which include the American Bully breeds, inflict the most damage when they bite,” said Bully Watch. “It is the style of biting, tearing at flesh and bone.”

Existing dogs will have to be registered and kept leashed and muzzled in public, says chief veterinary officer.

The USA has had many more severe, disfiguring and fatal dog maulings per capita, but our legislators don’t seem to be concerned about the daily carnage.

American society has decayed to the point that pit bulls are worshipped while public safety is ignored.
